TAYplan Consultation Kicks Off

Construction News Image
One of the largest consultation exercises for many years on the future of land use across four local authorities is underway.

Opinions and comments on the TAYplan main issues report are being sought out for the next 12 weeks as the body tries to develop a blueprint for where any new development should be located and the key issues surrounding land use.

Feedback from the public, politicians, planners, academics, business, young people and communities will be gathered until July.

TAYplan, the Strategic Development Planning Authority, was set up in 2008 to create a strategy for the location of major development in Dundee, Angus, Perth and Kinross and North/East Fife.

The strategy, which will replace existing council structure plans when it is approved by Scottish Ministers, will set out a framework for growth in the Dundee City region.

Cllr Will Dawson, who chairs the TAYplan joint committee said: "As residents, as home owners or tenants, as employees, employers and users of the countryside and built-environment we all have a stake in the decisions that are going to be taken on how these things will be developed or protected in the future.

"So it is important that as many people as possible get involved and give us their views."

The 12 week consultation period includes a series of events for local councillors, community councils and the general public.

These will take place at Enterprise House, Dundee on May 4; Crieff Library on May 5; County Hall, Cupar on May 12; Arbroath Harbour Visitor Centre on May 12; St Andrews Town Hall on May 18; AK Bell Library, Perth on May 20; Montrose Library on May 24; Fishers Hotel, Pitlochry on May 25; Loch Leven Community Campus, Kinross on May 27; Forfar Library on June 2; Blairgowrie Town Hall on June 3 and again at Enterprise House, Dundee on June 8.

An online questionnaire has also been posted on the TAYplan portal www.tayplan-sdpa-consult.limehouse.co.uk/portalwww.tayplan-sdpa-consult.limehouse.co.uk/portal
