A Perthshire based structural engineering firm has become king of the swingers with the completion of a chimpanzee bridge.
ADAC-structures built the bridge to allow the chimps at Blairdrummond Safari Park to access the landward house from the island on which they spend their days.
Managing Director and Principal Engineer, Angus Armstrong said: "The diversity of experience gained over the past 25 years and within ADAC-structures in particular has given the confidence and knowledge to tackle unusual and challenging problems with an open and creative mind.
"Our involvement on the chimpanzee bridge has been enormous fun and led to a finished structure in which we are hugely proud. We have led the client towards a creative and interesting solution that we feel enhances the Safari Park.
"The geometrical and structural engineering challenges were dealt with with enthusiasim. The constraints of working towards the deadline of having the chimpanzees back on the island for the opening of the season at Easter were unusual and achieved despite challenges along the way."
Jamie Muir, owner and operator of Blairdrummond Safari Park, added: "The input from ADAC-structures helped us to develop a creative and aesthetically pleasing solution to a functional problem that has enhanced the public’s enjoyment whilst visiting the chimpanzees.
"Additionally ADAC-structures helped us through the construction phase and to overcome any difficulties faced in this interesting and at times challenging project."
ADAC-structures has built up an enviable breadth of experience and diverse portfolio of projects during the 15 years the company has been in existence. Together this enables c-structures to provide insightful and creative input to a clients projects.
