Grant For Forfar Specialist Coachbuilders

Vehicle Bodies (Forfar) Ltd is the latest company to benefit from the Angus Grant Scheme, the council's grant scheme for businesses with 25 or fewer employees.

The £4843 grant awarded to the specialist coachbuilders has assisted with the purchase of tools and equipment for the business.

Vehicle Bodies (Forfar) Ltd is a new business created by David Reid the former supervisor of Forfar based Turner Vehicle Bodies. When the owner of Turner Vehicle Bodies decided to retire after 24 successful years of trading, Mr Reid and his fellow directors decided to establish the new business to continue the specialist coachbuilding service in Angus.

The new company has started up at new premises in Old Brechin Road in Forfar and employs four full-time and three part-time staff, who have over 70 years of coach-building experience between them.

The expertise of the workforce has ensured that the new company has started trading with a healthy client list. The company designs, installs and services specialised refrigerated vehicle bodies, specialising in insulated panel van conversions and in the manufacture of rigid truck box bodies.

Speaking following his visit to Vehicle Bodies (Forfar) Ltd's new premises on Tuesday (19 October) councillor David May, Angus Council’s economic development spokesperson said: "I congratulate the directors on the re-establishment of this business in Forfar. Their personal commitment to the business has ensured that Angus has retained a successful enterprise and the jobs of skilled engineering/fabrication workers have been secured."

The £4843 grant helped Vehicle Bodies (Forfar) Ltd to purchase essential equipment and tools valued at £18,000.
