Shepherd, one of the largest independent firms of chartered surveyors in the UK, has promoted surveyors John Mackie and Steven Ferguson to associate level.
The promotions, made with immediate effect, see building surveyor John Mackie become an associate in Shepherd’s Aberdeen office, overseeing the operation of the firm’s building surveying work in the north east whilst, as an associate in the Dumbarton office, Steven Ferguson now has responsibility for managing all Shepherd’s residential surveying requirements throughout Dunbartonshire.
Having served his time as a joiner prior to attending Glasgow Caledonian University to complete a surveying degree, Mr Mackie, originally from Kirriemuir, has a 20 year career in the property and construction sector.
He said: “I was invited to join Shepherd’s Aberdeen office four years ago to help expand our building surveying department and am delighted with the recognition of my contribution to the growth of the department over that period that this promotion represents.
“Our department in Aberdeen offers a comprehensive range of building surveying services, including landlord and tenant services; architectural services; EPC; due diligence; project management and insurance reinstatement.”
Fellow Glasgow Caledonian University graduate Mr Ferguson, from Bishopbriggs, joined Shepherd in 2003 and opened its Dumbarton office last year.
He said: “I’m delighted to receive this recognition from the partnership for my contribution to the success of our Dumbarton office, which is now well established and well placed to take advantage of an anticipated rise in activity in the local housing market throughout 2011.
“Our Dumbarton office offers a comprehensive range of residential survey and valuation services, including Home Reports and EPCs.”
The new associate promotions form part of an ambitious growth strategy underway at Shepherd that earlier this month saw the promotion to partnership level of Graeme McDonald and Jonathan Reid.
Shepherd offers a multi disciplinary property service to include valuation, commercial agency, building surveying, rent reviews, development and investment consultancy, rating and property management.
