Duncan Ogilvie Recognised By RICS Scotland

RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) Scotland has welcomed Duncan Ogilvie as a Fellow of RICS in recognition of his services to property.

Duncan Ogilvie, chief executive of the Ogilvie Group, has received his membership through the Eminent route. This is by nomination and only individuals recognised within the industry as a leader in their field, whose standing is beyond question and judged to be out of the ordinary, will be considered.

Those invited to join as a result of being nominated through the Eminent route are admitted directly to FRICS level, reflecting their standing and achievements.

The Ogilvie Group is a family run business, set up by Duncan’s grandfather in 1953, which has seen unprecedented growth under Duncan’s leadership since 1989. While traditionally a construction company, Duncan has widened the Group’s offering to include residential and commercial development, and latterly non-property based businesses of Communications and Car Leasing.

Duncan’s portfolio has also included working in partnership with public sector organisations to find creative solutions to deliver value for money social housing, including contributing to the formulation of Scottish Government’s policy in this area.

"To have such a prestigious institution as RICS Scotland recognise my work in the property sector is an honour indeed and I am delighted to have been invited to become a Fellow," said Duncan Ogilvie.

"Duncan’s thoughtful and successful attitude to the property sector makes him an ideal candidate for nomination – in particular his visionary, long term approach to business has helped the Ogilvie Group not only remain solid in the face of tough trading conditions within the property sector but continue to thrive.

"We have no doubt that Duncan is setting up his own legacy, building on the foundations of his father’s work, and we know our members will benefit greatly from his knowledge, experience and foresight," said John Edwards, Chairman, RICS Scotland.
