Funding of £55,000 towards the further development of Toll Park in Buckhaven has been approved by Levenmouth Area Committee.
Work has already begun in the park to improve some of the infrastructure, including drainage, footpaths and steps and the latest round of funding from the area budget will allow for the play equipment in the park to be upgraded.
Chair of the Levenmouth Area Committee, Councillor David Alexander, commented: "I'm delighted that this application has been successful and will allow for a second phase of improvements to be made in the park. Consultation work has taken place with residents that live near the park and will continue with Parks and Grounds Maintenance staff and local environmental group CLEAR to ensure the new play equipment will deliver the best possible results for local children in Buckhaven."
Work is due to begin on this second phase around November and will be complete early in the new year.
This funding boost coincides with the news that work will also be carried out to make the improvements at Memorial Court and Swan Court, as part of a wider refurbishment programme being carried out by Fife Council on a number of flatted developments within the area.
Both buildings are to be clad in an external wall insulation system and Rendabrick finish or roughcast to protect and weatherproof the external walls and pro-long the building's life.
The windows are to be replaced with white UPVC double glazed tilt and turn units units and the existing timber doors at ground floor level will be replaced with new steel faced security doors.
Mr Alexander welcomed the continued investment in council properties, stating: "The external rendered walls are discoloured due to weathering and this work will upgrade and improve the buildings greatly. It also contributes towards the council's commitment to ensuring it meets the Scottish Housing Quality Standard."
The work on the two blocks will be completed by the end of June 2012.
