A major gas pipeline operator is due to start essential works in the Milngavie Road area of Bearsden.
The work, to be carried out by Scotland Gas Networks (SGN), includes renewing 1.3km of gas mains to ensure the safety and reliability of the network supply.
The vital works are set to last for around 24 weeks and will cost approximately £330,000.
SGN is committed to carrying out the work safely and it will therefore be necessary to close some roads, including some of the side roads adjacent to Milngavie Road.
To minimise disruption, the works will be carried out in three phases and SGN has been working with East Dunbartonshire Council and the local community to find viable solutions to disruption.
Phase one will take place between Kessington Drive and West Chapelton Avenue; phase two between West Chapelton Avenue and Roman Road; and phase three between Roman Road and Birch View.
All shops and businesses will be open as usual and access for pedestrians and delivery vehicles will be maintained where possible.
SGN Engineering Manager, Ian Connor, said: "All of our planning and work is being carried out in close consultation with East Dunbartonshire Council, Bear Scotland and our contractors Forward Construction GRP Ltd. We are working with the local community and will do everything we can to minimise disturbance."
Convener of Development and Infrastructure at East Dunbartonshire Council, Councillor Billy Hendry, added: "We welcome this investment into the gas mains network in Bearsden as it will help improve services provided to residents in the area.
"The Council will work closely with SGN and other partners to ensure that the work is carried out safely and as swiftly as possible. I’d like to thank our residents for bearing with us and apologise in advance for any disruption caused as the works are carried out."
