Major resurfacing is scheduled for Eastwoodmains Road and East Renfrewshire Council is urging drivers to take care when driving.
Work begins on Eastwoodmains Road between Seres Road and Percy Drive from Monday 10 October to Sunday 30 October 2011.
The work will be carried out in stages and for the duration of the work one lane will be kept open at all times westbound from Seres Road to Eastwood Toll.
Routes and diversions have been chosen to ensure that Strathclyde Fire and Rescue services can access the fire station on Seres Road.
Eastbound traffic will be diverted away from the work at Eastwood Toll.
The following diversions will be in place: Eastbound traffic will be diverted via Mearns Cross, Eaglesham Road, Mearns Road and Clarkston Toll.
The Etive Drive, Broomley Drive, Percy Drive and eastern Greenhill Avenue junctions with Eastwoodmains Road will also be closed throughout with traffic diversions in place.
The aim is to have everything completed by Monday 31 October 2011 when the new road surface will be finished.
Roads convener, Councillor Eddie Phillips, explained: "We need to replace the worn-out surface on the carriageway. This work will cause some disruption as this is a busy road through East Renfrewshire.
"I would urge drivers and pedestrians to follow the diversions and be patient. Our roads service will be doing all they can to do the job well and as quickly as they can."
The move comes after two of the harshest winters in living memory where much of the road stock has been damaged.
Councillors decided to spend an extra £1.75m this year on road maintenance.
They also pledged to spend £10m on maintaining East Renfrewshire's roads infrastructure through their eight-year capital plan.
