West Dunbartonshire To Spend £12m On Repairs

Housing regeneration specialist Lovell has been appointed by West Dunbartonshire Council to its three-year framework for the carrying out of fabric repairs to multi-storey domestic properties.

The framework agreement is estimated to be worth £12 million to Lovell.

It will ensure that relevant elements within these properties meet the Scottish Housing Quality Standard by 2015.

Lovell will upgrade high-rise blocks of flats including repairing flat roofs, flashings and rainwater goods. In addition, the team will carry out structural repairs to external walls and upgrade insulation through overcladding using approved insulated render systems.


The Lovell team will replace all windows and carry out work to repair and improve balcony access.

In addition, Lovell has also been appointed to the council's £24 million framework for carrying out similar improvement work to low- and medium-rise blocks of flats.

The company is one of three partners selected for each framework.

Both frameworks are for three years and have the option to be extended for a further year.

Based at the Glasgow Business Park, Lovell in Scotland employs 375 office- and site-based staff as well as currently providing work for around 800 people employed by local subcontractors.

Lovell in Scotland is marking its 10th anniversary this year.

The company's regional director Alan Taylor said: "We have extensive expertise in this kind of work and are extremely pleased to be working with West Dunbartonshire Council to upgrade the council’s housing stock and help create warmer, more modern homes for residents."
