Disused Granary To Be Converted

Work has started on the conversion of a disused granary in Banff.

The building has lain disused since 1994 and was deteriorating rapidly with decay to the exterior, but owners A D Walker Ltd are converting it into a housing development with the aid of the A Proctor Group.

Roofshield vapour and air permeable underlay have been installed in the former Gordon’s Granaries on High Shore, Banff.

The benefits provided by the high performance Roofshield membrane made it an easy choice for the specifiers.

Its very low vapour resistance of 0.09MNs/g combined with high air permeability reduces the potential for interstital condensation without the need for a vapour control layer.

And Profloor Dynamic Batten System, a market leader in the manufacture of floating floors for new-build and refurbishment projects, utilizes advanced foam technology to provide an impact isolation superior to that achieved using fibre quilt.

The new housing development will include nine flats of between one and three bedrooms.

The former granary buildings date back to the early eighteenth century and were originally U-shaped in plan with the courtyard having been infilled later.

They occupy a seafront position, adjacent to St Mary's Churchyard, within the conservation area and there are hopes this development will regenerate this former industrial zone in Banff.
