Glasgow Airport is set for a £3.5m expansion.
Gama Aviation has announced the development, which will see new and improved services and facilities at Glasgow Airport implemented by Spring 2013.
Work carried out by the aviation company will include the construction of a dedicated Gama Aviation hangar and the development of a Gama Aviation executive aircraft handling terminal.
Enhancements to Gama’s aircraft maintenance capabilities are also to be carried out, while the opening of the Gama Glasgow Operations Centre will provide services to the Scottish Ambulance Service and NHS Scotland.
Gama’s new 1,600m2 hangar will house the Scottish Air Ambulance King Air aircraft, and will have the capacity to hold aircraft up to the Bombardier Challenger size.
The hangar development will include a full base and line maintenance hangar facility.
This new development will give operators a stop between North America and the Middle East.
Glasgow has been chosen as the latest Gama FBO stopover point on the 'Great Circle' route, being located virtually midway between the USA and the UAE.
Tom Wells, General Manager, Gama Aviation, said: "The key beneficiaries of Gama’s further investment in Glasgow will be the Scottish Ambulance Service and the people of Scotland.
"The opening of the Gama Glasgow hangar, offices, maintenance facility and executive terminal further underlines our long term commitment to Scotland and investing in the world class infrastructure needed in order to offer our full range of aviation services, at the highest level to our global client base."
