VIBES Shortlist Announced

The shortlist for this year’s Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland (VIBES) Awards has been announced.

One company which is celebrating making the list is forklift truck firm the Carrylift Group.

Carrylift has made the shortlist in two categories; Collaboration and Transport.

It made the former due to its work with the Woodland Trust. It has been joined in the Collaboration category by Forest Carbon and Kingdom Housing Association.

Kingdom was selected for its Housing Innovation Showcase project; a collaboration between Kingdom Housing Association and 10 preferred partners including Campian Homes Ltd, Fife Council and Green Business Fife which saw funding of £3.5m provided by the Scottish government to create 121 homes.

Castle Group Scotland was nominated in the Management (SME) category.

The shortlist includes thirty-four companies from across Scotland noted for environmental best practice to cut down on resources, increase sustainability, improve reputation and benefit the company’s bottom-line.

The awards have been running for nearly 13 years.

This year’s winners will be announced on 29 November 2012 at The Glasgow Marriott Hotel. The keynote speaker will be David Wilson, director of Energy and Climate Change at the Scottish Government.

Gillian Bruce, VIBES Chair said: "Our expert judging panel of environmental specialists from a variety of sectors has been visiting sites from Carrbridge to Jedburgh to evaluate each of the shortlisted applications first-hand and we have been suitably impressed.

"Sustainable business practice is about making the most of the resources you have in order to cut carbon emissions, which of course translate to savings. Despite the economic gloom, the companies in the VIBES 2012 shortlist have demonstrated tremendous dedication and commitment and we hope they will reap the benefits of their savings for years to come."
