Leading representatives from the contractors involved in the Edinburgh tram project have been visiting Holyrood to discuss the future of the transport system.
Senior Directors met with Transport Minister Keith Brown and Transport Convener, Councillor Lesley Hinds.
Dr Jochen Keysberg from Bilfinger SE, Dr Jörg Schneppendahl of Siemens AG and Antonio Campos from CAF were in Edinburgh to witness the progress being made
Transport Convener Cllr Lesley Hinds said: "This meeting demonstrates the productive and positive relationship that continues between Council, the contractors and Government. The tram project is now making good steady progress and, with large sections of track now laid and tram stops nearing completion, it's clear to see the route taking shape.
"However, we understand that businesses, residents and commuters in the city still face difficulties and, where possible, we're trying hard to limit disruption. Everyone here is determined for this good progress to continue and of course to keep the project in line with the revised budget."
Transport Minister Keith Brown said: "This was a welcome opportunity to meet with representatives from Bilfinger Siemens, and CAF and receive a progress report on the project. While there is no room for complacency, we should remember that some businesses and the public are still facing disruption, however, steady progress is in line with the revised schedule to allow completion in summer 2014.
"We are all determined to deliver a project that will help put Edinburgh on the map for all the right reasons, and mean a massive boost to the local and national economy, as well as increasing public transport options for the public and visitors."
