Local children from East Dunbartonshire are enjoying play parks throughout the area after £250k was invested to improve 13 of the parks.
Over the past year, money has been spent on replacing old or damaged equipment with newer elements. Safety surfaces were also upgraded and there was a general refurbishment to help improve play areas.
Pupils from Auchinairn Primary School helped to transform a play area in Woodhill Park, and Councillor Alan Moir, Convenor of the Development & Infrastructure Committee, said he was "delighted" to see the difference the improvements had made.
Mr Moir added: "Who better to help design a play area than the children themselves? We got a few options from equipment providers and gave the pupils the chance to say what they would like, what they felt they would use and how it should look."
The park is now fitted with new swings, spinners, a climbing frame, a slide and a net tower, as well as a well-stocked toddler area.
The play equipment was provided by Wicksteed, who also carried out some drainage work on the site as well as adding a tarmac path to help improve access.
The other play areas to have benefitted from the £250k fund are:
•Angus Avenue in Bishopbriggs
•Lennox Crescent in Bishopbriggs
•Doune Crescent in Bishopbriggs
•Meadowburn Park in Bishopbriggs
•Springfield Park in Bishopbriggs
•Mosshead Park in Bearsden
•Thornwood Avenue in Kirkintilloch
•Tintock Road in Kirkintilloch
•Douglas Park in Milngavie
•Kincaid Park in Milton of Campsie
•Firbank Avenue in Torrance
•Twechar Public Park
Moir concluded by confirming a further £500k had been set aside over the next five years to help improve more than 70 of East Dunbartonshire's play parks.
