Scottish construction workers whose names appeared on a blacklist have taken part in a demonstration in Dundee, the BBC has reported.
The blacklist was used by major firms to vet employees, and those affected by the action have called for the Scottish government to launch an inquiry.
It is believed around 600 of Scotland's construction workers appeared on a secret list, which was discovered after a raid by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) on a company called the Consulting Association in the Midlands. The raid happened in 2009.
Construction firms paid to access the information and it is understood some of the firms were involved in major projects in Scotland.
The workers involved were listed as 'troublemakers' for various reasons, such as raising concerns over health and safety issues or being a member of a trade union.
Following the demonstration in Dundee, workers said their livelihoods have suffered as a result of the blacklist, with many finding it difficult to secure work. They now want the companies who used the blacklists to be banned from getting future government contracts, as well as calling for a full inquiry into the practice.
Union officials have described the issue as "a national scandal".
Unite Regional Industrial Officer Rab Sherry, who was blacklisted himself, said: "We're only beginning to scratch the surface of what is nothing short of a national scandal and the rally represents a step-up of activity in our pursuit for justice and legislative change.
"The Scottish government must start tightening its procurement policies to prevent known blacklisting companies from tendering and profiteering from future public contracts."
The Scottish government has said it is completely opposed to blacklisting, while Scottish ministers have said they are also awaiting a report by the Scottish Affairs Committee which has been investigating blacklisting across the UK.
