Construction News Image
Pittencrieff Park has been granted £10k by Fife councillors to help improve its play areas.

Following a meeting of the City of Dunfermaline Area Committee, councillors pledged to give the funding to volunteer group, Friends of Pittencrieff Park.

The group plans to use the grant to make the park's play areas more accessible for children with disabilities.

The group will also promote the wider use of the natural facilities within the park for children and young people.

A natural living willow tunnel will be added to the Nethertown play area, along with an inclusive roundabout for the northern play area near Pittencrieff Street.

The Friends of Pittencrieff Park will also be able to hold their Orchard school events for this year with the funding support.

Committee Chair Mike Rumney said: "The Park is a great asset to our city and we’re investing and improving it in a number of ways. The Heritage Lottery Fund project which is safeguarding and improving the heritage in the Park, the improvements to the Nethertown Play Area and the recent improvements to the Glen Pavilion are all ongoing with partners including the Fife Environment Trust and the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust.

"With its position right in the heart of Dunfermline, the Park is well used by locals and tourists alike and I’m delighted that we can continue to invest in this much loved facility for future generations."
