The Enterprise, Planning and Infrastructure Committee unanimously agreed on how the £3.8m would be spent.
A majority of the money has been allocated towards carriageway resurfacing, with just over £2m set aside for improving road surfaces.
Speaking about the division of funds, convener Barney Crockett said: "A run of exceptionally hard and prolonged winters, with temperatures varying from very low to relatively mild has hit the roads infrastructure hard.
"It is important that we continue to invest in the city's roads and infrastructure and maintain it as best we can. A considerable amount of work will be carried out in the coming months. We've agreed to invest £20million in roads and infrastructure over the next five years.

"There is a lot to be done and roads staff will be working through it systematically and prioritising the work appropriately. The work may cause some disruption over the course of the coming year, but the end result will be worth it."
The remaining budget will be split across a range of projects. These include:
• £500k for the continued upgrade of traffic lights and pedestrian crossings city-wide
• £300k for street lighting improvements, primarily the replacement of elderly lighting columns
• £232k for Cycling, Walking, Safer Streets projects, which aim to improve road safety and reduce accidents
• £50k for road safety schemes, primarily small scale traffic schemes, lining and signing
• £512k for footway and pavement resurfacing
• £100k for drainage works
• £50k for road sign replacement
• £50k for weak bridge repairs and major bridge works
• £100k for flood prevention schemes
