Three fully equipped play parks are now planned for Barrs Brae in Port Glasgow, Braeside in Greenock and Taymouth Drive in Gourock at a total cost of £200k.
Local communities will be consulted on the final designs.
A further £100k has been earmarked to refurbish existing play parks across Inverclyde.

Environment & Regeneration Convener Councillor Michael McCormick said: "When we set up our investment programme three years ago our priority was to bring sites that were in a poor condition up to scratch. That has now been achieved and we can turn our attention to filling in the gaps in provision.
"We recognise how important it is for children to have attractive and safe areas in which to play and I am delighted we have been able to approve this significant investment in three more play parks."
Last month, a new £175k play park was opened in Larkfield, Greenock while Boglestone in Port Glasgow opened last year following a £180k restoration project.
