The extended period is to give people time to contribute to the consultation over the summer period. The draft development brief was informed by an earlier consultation event held in February by Orkney Islands Council.
Following the consultation period, which begins this week, the document will be revised before being submitted to Councillors for approval. Once it is given the go ahead, the document will be a material consideration for all planning applications in the area.

Statutory consultees include neighbouring properties and the Stromness Community Council.
Councillor James Stockan, Chair of the Council's Development and Infrastructure Committee, said: "When construction work is complete, the new pier at Copland's Dock will contribute greatly to the future prosperity of Stromness and the town's harbour.
"Our aim is for the surrounding land at Garson to be developed in a way that supports the renewables sector and Orkney's inshore fisheries industry, as well as for a variety of other uses including public open spaces.
"I would encourage anyone with an interest in the area to take a look at the development brief and take part in the consultation – the views and ideas we receive will help shape the development of Copland's Dock in the years to come."
