Taylor Wimpey Scoops NHBC Awards

Construction News Image
Taylor Wimpey West Scotland is celebrating after six of its site managers each scooped a prestigious NHBC (National House Building Council) Pride in the Job Quality Award.

This matches last year's number of awards for this region underpinning the commitment to quality right across the business.

Iain Alexander (Barony Gate in Lochmaben), David McClure (Annick Gardens in Stewarton), Paul Cunningham (The Laurels in East Kilbride), Tommy Stirling (Dunsmuir Park in Kilmarnock), Dougie Kirkland (Newton Farm in Cambuslang) and Gus Cameron (Cavalry Park in Kilsyth) each received an individual award and will now go forward to the Scottish regional awards final which will be held in Glasgow in October.

Mr Cunningham is currently the reigning overall Scottish champion.

Beating off stiff competition from thousands of entries, these awards, which are six of 68 won by Taylor Wimpey site managers around the UK, recognises the Scottish six's dedication to building high quality homes for new home buyers.

Presented following a stringent judging process by NHBC inspectors who perform spot checks on developments throughout the year, the Quality Awards also provide homebuyers with the assurance that the development provides top quality homes and excellent customer care.

Steven Laurie, production director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland said: "The whole team at every development takes great pride in what they do and and works extremely hard to ensure the homes we build are completed to the highest possible standards.

"I'm delighted that six of our site managers have reached this stage of the competition and to be recognised by the industry in this way. It's an incredible roll of honour for six of our site managers to impress the judges again this year. In fact between our 'sensational six' they boast around 100 years service to the housebuilding industry and have constructed over 2,000 homes and apartments as site managers – quite an achievement in itself!"

Audrey Ross, sales and marketing director added: "Our commitment to maintaining the highest levels of quality, service and customer care has ensured that we continue to be an NHBC award winning house builder year after year. These awards for six of our site managers are thoroughly deserved and we'll all be supporting them as they progress through to the regional heats and hopefully the grand final."

As the only awards scheme that recognises the significant contribution of site managers in new home construction, Pride in the Job has been instrumental in raising the build quality of new homes in the UK for over three decades.

The regional events take place in the autumn, with the Supreme Awards gala final being held in January 2014.
