Argyll and Bute Council is to carry out repairs to Ballevoulin Bridge on the A817 MOD Haul Road.
The local authority has said works are set to commence on Monday 5 August.
Following a competitive tendering process, the £77,000 contract for repairs has been awarded to Diack and Macaulay.
The programme is expected to last approximately five weeks and will include replacing the existing bridge, waterproofing and surfacing. When complete, the work will extend the life of the bridge and reduce the risk of deterioration of the running surface.
The improvements will also result in road closures, with the A817 being closed to traffic at Ballevoulin Bridge for the duration of the works. The road will however remain open for local access on each side.
Following consultation, a diversion route will be in place.
Traffic travelling south east should use the A814, Rhu Road Higher, West Montrose Street, Sinclair Street (A818), the A818 to Crosskeys roundabout and onto the A82 at Arden roundabout. Motorists heading north-west should use the same route, only reversed.
Using the alternative route should not conflict with traffic using the diversion already in place while improvement works are carried out on Helensburgh sea front.
The Council has said every effort will be made to complete the repairs to Ballevoulin Bridge as soon as possible and minimise disruption, and the co-operation of motorists during the repair period is greatly appreciated.
