'Rival' Gardens Plan Could Be Revived

Plans for an art centre in Aberdeen, which were shelved three years ago by a rival project, could be revisited, BBC Scotland has reported.

It claims it has learned the Peacock Visual Arts scheme is to be "revisited" by the local authority.

Initially, a majority of the £13m funding had been in place for the centre at Union Terrace Gardens, but it was dropped in favour of Sir Ian Wood's £140m City Garden Project.


However, last year, this was then rejected by the local authority.

Now, Aberdeen City Council's Deputy Leader, Marie Boulton, is quoted as saying the Peacock proposals could return in "some shape or form".

The proposals had planning permission when businessman Sir Ian got involved with his own idea and offered £50m towards the cost.

It is thought firmer plans will be presented to the Council later this year.
