Water Mains Improvements For West Dunbartonshire

Scottish Water has completed its work to improve service to customers in areas of Duntocher, West Dunbartonshire, who have been affected by discoloured water.

A scheme to improve the water mains in the Craigielea Road, Roman Hill Road, Duncombe Avenue, Greenside Road, and Westburn Crescent areas commenced last month, and the improvements to stretches of mains in the affected areas included the relining of around 1,100 metres of pipes.

The work was carried out for Scottish Water by contractors Farrans.

Due to the ageing water mains, some customers in Duntocher were affected by discoloured water.

Jane McKenzie, Scottish Water's Regional Community Manager for the area, said: "Scottish Water is always striving to provide clear, fresh drinking water to our customers 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"We investigated the discolouration in these parts of Duntocher and carried out this work as quickly as possible to resolve the problem.

"The aging water mains served the area well for many decades but obviously needed to be improved and we know that customers who were affected by the discolouration will welcome this investment."

Scottish Water is also planning to begin further improvement works which will provide clearer, fresher drinking water for thousands of customers in parts of north and east Clydebank, Faifley and other parts of Duntocher. Details of the investment will be confirmed in due course.
