Aberdeen-based CAN Group has strengthened its position as one of the leading inspection services in the North Sea, after securing a £90m multi-year contract with oil exploration giant Talisman Sinopec Energy UK.
The five-year deal, which was announced at the Offshore Europe Conference in Aberdeen, is to provide independent inspection services to the operator's 11 offshore installations as well as its onshore terminal at Flotta, Orkney.
Talisman Sinopec Energy UK is one of the North Sea's largest operators, and has installations in some of Scotland's longest-established oil fields including Claymore, Montrose and Fulmar. The agreement is a significant win for the company, which has developed a strong reputation within the engineering, integrity, inspection and maintenance sector.
Up to 120 offshore inspection personnel will carry out the specialist work, and will be backed by an onshore team of engineers, planners and support staff. They will deliver a full range of inspection services including non-destructive testing, quality assurance and quality control, as well as managing specialist subcontractors who provide services including microbial consultancy and vibration analysis.
Welcoming the announcement, CAN Group operations director Adam Byrne, said: "This contract builds on a long relationship which began with the company in 2001 and underscores CAN Group's capacity to offer clients a highly skilled and experienced team to support their operational delivery. The strength of our services continues to be underpinned by our excellent safety record and our ability to understand and meet each client's specific needs."
Talisman Sinopec Energy UK CEO, Geoff Holmes added: "The North Sea holds the promise of a thriving energy industry for many decades to come and this places a strong emphasis on the importance of investment. We are committed to making that investment and to unlocking the potential within this sector."
The latest deal comes on the back of contracts with Bluewater, Centrica and Total awarded in the past year with a combined value of £44m.
