Flood Alleviation Proposals For Lenzie

Residents of Myrtle Avenue and surrounding streets in Lenzie are being asked for their views on the flood alleviation proposals suggested by East Dunbartonshire Council.

The plans are designed to tackle the flooding issues the area has faced in the past.

To allow locals to share their views, a drop-in session will be held next week to give people the opportunity to view the proposals, and to ask any questions relating to the works.

Councillor Ashay Ghai, Depute Leader of the Council and Convener of the Neighbourhood Services, said: "This is a great opportunity for residents of Myrtle Avenue and surrounding streets in Lenzie to share their views on the Council's proposals.

"People living in the area have had to cope with flooding over many years and now our engineers are proposing flood alleviation and improvement works to address the problem.

"The proposals include work not only on Myrtle Avenue itself but also on nearby Kirkintilloch Road and Middlemuir Road. It is important that we hear from local people as their input has been and will continue to be invaluable."

The Council has consulted SEPA, Scottish Water and Scottish Canals about the flooding issues in the area.

"A great deal of work has been carried out by the Council and our consultants to reach this stage so I urge local people to come along and have their say," Councillor Ghai added.

The drop-in session will be held on Tuesday 24 September at Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre from 3pm to 7pm.
