Consultation For Elgin Link Road

Construction News Image
Moray Council is to hold a two-day exhibition regarding the proposed link road for Elgin.

The detailed design of the £8.5m project is nearing completion and it is hoped a planning application will be submitted later this year.

The consultation will allow local residents another opportunity to view and comment on the designs, as well as contribute to the scheme before the application is submitted.

Previous exhibitions have been held as part of the local authority's commitment to keep the public informed of the development. Feedback obtained at each of the sessions has also proved vital in the detailed design.

The scheme, when completed, will provide a new crossing over the Inverness-Aberdeen railway line and a road link from the A96 to Edgar Road.

Earlier this year, Moray Councillors approved the use of a compulsory purchase order to acquire the land necessary for the new road, although it is hoped that negotiations with landowners will remove the need for compulsory acquisition. Since then, further environmental work has been carried out as part of the final design preparations.

A spokesman for the Council said: "There is still time to make changes to the design before the planning application is finalised and we are keen to hear people's views and to answer any queries they might have."

The event will be held in the Gallery at Elgin Library on:

  • Wednesday 25 September, from 10am to 8pm

  • Thursday 26 September from 9.30am to 5pm.
