A transformed basement, located in a city multi, is to open its doors to the community this weekend.
The contractors behind the project at Tulloch Court refurbished the space into a community lounge and will join Dundee City Council to showcase the room which will allow locals to gather and hold events.
John Alexander, Convener of Dundee City Council's Housing Committee, said: "As part of the installation of the multi million pound heating system and kitchen and bathroom replacement in the four Dallfield blocks, British Gas donated a £40,000 Community Legacy Fund for the residents to use.
"Tenants were closely involved in the process of not only deciding what the legacy money would be used for but also how they could use the community lounge best to benefit everyone in the neighbourhood.
"It's projects like this that have the ability to reinvigorate community activism in an area and give the community a purpose built space."
Martin Hay, operations director of McGill, which worked on the refurbishment, added: "We provided all the trades for the project free of charge which is the equivalent of about £12,000.
"Because we were a big partner in the work, we thought it came upon us to deliver this to give something back to the city and something back to the residents. It should help the residents to have a space to use.
"I know that in the past they've rented space for community events so this gives them somewhere to congregate."
Other businesses who contributed with time and materials include JTC, Rembrandt Timber, Tayfirth Laminates, Edmundson, Plum Centre, Plumbase, Crown and Graham.
The lounge will be open to the public from 12 noon on Saturday 28 September 28.
