Consultations To Be Held On Future Of Wishaw

North Lanarkshire Council is to hold a series of consultation events to allow residents the opportunity to have their say on the future of Wishaw town centre.

The week-long community meetings will be held at Wishaw Library, while there will also be a workshop for local businesses.

The events will help to inform and shape a new framework and action plan for the town, and the documents will build on the town's strengths, look at its limitations and find ways to help it adapt to the changing environment.

This will be the second series of events, following the initial stages of consultation that took place in August.

Councillor James Coyle, Convener of the Planning and Transportation Committee, explained: "In this second consultation, residents and businesses will have the opportunity to tell us if they agree with the comments made so far and the suggested way forward for Wishaw town centre over the next ten years.

"We've had a good response from people so far, and it's encouraging to hear from people who feel strongly about their communities and want to be involved in shaping the future of Wishaw.

"I would encourage residents and businesses to come along to the events and have a say at this early point in the process."

The new framework will cover a range of issues including development opportunities, town centre activity, accessibility and movement, design, quality and character, town centre management, business support and marketing and promotion.

The week-long events will take place at Wishaw Library from Monday 21 October to Saturday 26 October. The workshop for local businesses will be held on Tuesday 22 October at 6pm in Wishaw Library.
