The Independent Oil and Gas Expert Commission are looking for views and comments from stakeholders and industry that will feed into the final report back to the Scottish Government.
This Commission has been established to consider options for the implementation of the key principles set out in the Scottish Government's paper 'Maximising the return from Oil and Gas in an Independent Scotland' that was published in July 2013. Through the establishment of the independent commission the Scottish Government are giving the industry and all stakeholders the ability to put forward views on how to generate the maximum value for all stakeholders from our oil and gas activities.
Through direct engagement with the Commission the industry and wider stakeholders can put forward views on an oil and gas framework that will allow the commission to assemble a broad base of evidence and views on what is needed to both remove impediments to investment and to encourage ongoing investment in production, new development and exploration so as to optimise the value extracted from existing and newly or yet to be discovered reserves.
Evidence is welcomed from all interested parties. The Commission have a site hosted via Robert Gordon University where an online survey can be found. This seeks views on a list of specific issues which the Commission consider to be crucial to determining where the barriers to investment currently exist or where incentives might assist the maximisation of oil and gas recovery, and its return, for Scotland.
Melfort Campbell, Chair of the Commission, said: "We are very much looking forward to working closely with a wide range of industry figures and wider stakeholders to ensure that the final report is comprehensive and is representative of the industry as a whole. I would encourage all to take this opportunity to contribute to this important work."
