New Appointment For Building Safety Group

The Building Safety Group (BSG) has expanded into Scotland with the appointment of George Bunch as safety adviser, covering Scotland and Carlisle.

BSG is the leading health, safety and environmental consultancy to the UK construction industry, with more than 30 health and safety advisers covering over 3,500 sites within the UK.

This new appointment is an important one for construction sites throughout Scotland and the north of England as it means that Building Safety Group can offer these construction firms regional expertise, combined with extensive national resources, as it does to firms across the rest of the UK.

Mr Bunch started as an apprentice more than 30 years ago and has worked his way up to health and safety officer at Caregroup, the largest construction group in Scotland. During his career on site, George won Site Manager of the Year award and the Health and Safety for UK's Safest Site in the UK award.

George will now work with construction companies across Scotland and Carlisle providing advice and support, and he will also visit sites across the region carrying out health and safety audits.

In 2008, George joined the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as one of only 22 inspectors of construction in the UK and one of only six in Scotland.

Discussing his new role, Mr Bunch said: "This is an exciting time for the Building Safety Group which is expanding into new areas across the UK. I am looking forward to the challenge of growing the business in my homeland.

"I have always enjoyed great success here and with the wealth of resources the Building Safety Group has to offer we can make real a difference to the health and welfare of those working in Carlisle and the Scottish construction industry."

Paul Kimpton, managing director of The Building Safety Group, added: "There is a growing need for health and safety services and the Building Safety Group has grown steadily throughout the year providing an increasingly in-depth level of help to construction firms and site operatives across the UK.

"It has always been important to us that our advisers are not only experts in construction health and safety, but also have local knowledge. No two regions are the same and no two sites are the same; knowing an area can make a big difference to the advice and training we provide."
