A statement released by South Lanarkshire Council has said the Dollan Aqua Centre is to close for routine maintenance work.
The closure, which has been timed to minimise inconvenience for customers, will be closed from Monday 25 November, with a scheduled re-opening for January 2014.
Gerry Campbell, General Manager of South Lanarkshire Leisure & Culture, said: "I want to apologise to anyone who is inconvenienced when we close the pool for this routine maintenance.
"Our top priority is ensuring this terrific facility stays at the excellent standard that makes it so popular.
"We have made every effort to give users of the pool as much notice as possible - the pool will close on Monday 25 November and we will continue to keep everyone informed.
"By doing the maintenance at this, the quietest time of its use, this outstanding facility will be open again in January 2014 and ready for use for both regular swimmers and for those who are inspired to swim to fitness as part of their New Year resolution."
The Dollan Aqua Centre swimming pool, re-opened to the public in May 2011 following a multi-million pound refurbishment, and has since been hailed as a fantastic centre with a range of facilities suitable for all interests and a 50m pool suitable for competitive swimming. As a result of the sheer scale of the facility, however, brings its own issues as the pool holds 1.5 million litres of water, while 24,500 tiles were used to line it during its refurbishment, and to empty the pool, re-fill it and heat it again takes two to three weeks, in addition to the time that is needed to carry out the necessary maintenance work.
