Recognition For Quality Of Council's Planning

The quality of Dundee City Council's planning has been recognised at an awards ceremony.

A Scottish Government Awards for Quality in Planning, was presented to a project which involved young people helping to transform the waterfront in Dundee. There was also a commendation to the creation of Dundee's Local Development Plan (LDP).

A total of 17 entries from Scotland were shortlisted by the judges and included high level visions, to on-the-ground development.


The award for Community Involvement was given to 'Young people and the transformation of Dundee's waterfront', which created greater understanding among school pupils and university students of the positive role of land-use planning and the career opportunities that it can help open up. While, 'Working with key agencies towards the Dundee Local Development Plan', received a commendation in the Development Planning category for involving the expertise of Transport Scotland and Scottish Natural Heritage.

In a statement, the judges said they recognised the success of "a streamlined approach which reduced the technical burden of the process and offered efficiencies in delivering the plan."
