ST To Carry Out £500,000 M74 Investment

Scotland TranServ (ST) has announced £500,000 is to be invested in the M74 northbound between Junctions Ten and Eight.

Works on the stretch of motorway just south of Blackwood are being carried out on behalf of Transport Scotland.

The scheme is part of a wider £700,000 programme for the M74 this year to improve the resilience of the motorway for the future.

The works will begin on 18 June and last for a period of four days.

Traffic management will be in operation throughout the works.

A diversion will be in place overnight for southbound traffic starting today 18 June from 8pm until 6am on 19 June.

Southbound traffic leaving the M74 at Junction Eight will travel onto the B7078 before rejoining the M74 at Junction Ten.

The roadworks will operate throughout the day and night, beginning at approximately 1am on 20 May until late in the evening on 23 June.

Gordon Wilson, Contract Director, Scotland TranServ, said: "This essential maintenance scheme is vital to ensuring we prolong the lifespan of the road surface benefiting motorists using the M74 each day."

Traffic management will not be fully removed until 24 and 25 June between 8pm and 6am.

During this time there will be a signed diversion between Junction Ten and Eight.
