North Ayrshire Council has announced a new care home facility has opened in Arran.
The Montrose House Care Home and Resource Centre was officially opened on 15 June by Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing and Sport Shona Robinson.
The new £5.6 million facility is located in Brodick and includes two wings comprising of 20 rooms.
Each bedroom has its own en suite bathroom and garden access, featuring seating and shaded areas.
The building also contains dining spaces, quiet areas and several relaxing and spacious lounges.
Work is also underway to develop a rehabilitation and reablement service within Montrose House using the remaining ten en suite rooms available.
The facility was developed by Kier Construction.
Councillor Anthea Dickson said: "The official opening of the new Montrose House is an exciting and historic moment. The construction of this modern, multi-million pound purpose-built facility also reaffirms our commitment to ensuring that our older people receive the finest care in an environment designed to fully meet their needs.
"The new facility has already been well received by our service users and staff since it first opened in January and offers improved residential care for older people on the island, as well as a resource centre and rehabilitation facility which enables us to help residents remain in their own homes."
Brian McQuade, Managing Director of Kier Construction’s Scottish business, said: "We were delighted to have been involved in the construction of this much needed centre and we hope that the residents, and those who receive stay at home support from the centre, will enjoy the maximum benefit from it."
