A public consultation has been launched by Aberdeen City Council on the Draft Development Framework of a Nigg bay.
The document seeks to maximise the potential of land around the planned expansion of Aberdeen Harbour.
The Draft Framework has been created by consultants Barton Willmore on behalf of the council, Aberdeen Harbour Board and Scottish Enterprise.
The Board is proposing to create additional facilities at Nigg Bay in a response to capacity constraints.
The consent applications are due to be submitted in November.
The framework is to consider how to maximise the opportunities presented by investment in the harbour expansion and facilitate properly planned growth. In particular, the co-ordination of infrastructure and promotion of the efficient use of land around the proposed expansion area.
This includes existing industrial sites at Altens and East Tullos.
The Draft Framework focuses on three key phases; the new harbour facility at Nigg Bay and improvements to Coast Road, upgrades to the road network in and around Altens and the provision of a direct link from Nigg Bay to East Tullos.
The consultation began on 30 September and will run for six weeks until 11 November.
Councillor Neil Cooney said: "This is a major development and it is right that we ensure it is managed properly at every stage.
"This draft framework sets the context for detailed masterplans that will be brought forward for Nigg Bay, East Tullos and Altens at a later date."
