Five West Lothian Projects Awarded £42,500

Five projects in West Lothian have been awarded funding of more than £42,500, it has been announced.

The West Lothian Village Improvement Fund contains £1.65m to support small scale village improvements and investments.

Funding is granted to projects ranging from physical improvements to the streetscape or capital investment in community provision.

The projects awarded funding include:

• Seafield Community Council – awarded £2,500 for a village noticeboard

• West Calder Bowling Club – successful with its application for £15,000 towards its £20,000 project to build a new storage facility in the grounds of the bowling club

• Stoneyburn Bowling Club – an award of £20,514 towards its £47,514 project to upgrade the interior of the bowling club, which will include replacement toilets, and new flooring throughout

• Stoneyburn and Bents Future Vision Group – awarded match funding of £1,010 to create a wild flower meadow on a piece of waste ground adjacent to Foulsheils Park. The play park has recently been upgraded and additional work has been carried out to install raised beds.

• Fauldhouse Community Development Trust (FCDT) – received £3,500 to fund the installation of a power point to allow a Christmas tree to be sited on the village green. The grant will also pay for the purchase of tree lights.

Council Leader Hohn McGinty said: "The Council Executive is delighted to ratify the applications to allocate this money from the Villages Improvement Fund to five local projects."
