Works at the new Lennox school included upgrades to the exterior including new roofing, lights and windows.

The interior was also refurbished including redecoration and carpeting.

New ICT facilities have also been created along with flexible learning spaces.

A second phase of works will be undertaken to create a new Ladyton Early Learning and Childcare Centre as well as further upgrades to the exterior of the building.

The new facility will open in August 2016.

Cllr McGinty said: "The opening of Lennox Primary is the latest development in our schools regeneration programme which has moved over 7,000 young people from buildings which are no longer fit for purpose into first-class schools which meet all the demands of modern day learning."

Cllr Mooney added: "All of the planned works at Lennox were completed on budget and on time to allow the school to open to pupils in August."
