Lord Provost Donald Wilson unveiled the new gym, dining hall and 3G sports pitch at Kirkliston Primary School yesterday, 12 May.
The opening marks the first phase of a £5.25 million extension project at the school.
Other features of the scheme includes increased parking and the subdivision of the school’s old hall to provide two additional teaching spaces. .
Five new classrooms are also being built and will be completed by August 2016, with a further three classrooms being delivered next year.

Housing developers are providing £4.9 million towards the project due to the large number of new homes in Kirkliston which has meant an increase in children at the school.
In addition, the development saw two care leavers start an apprenticeship with both of them now gaining full time employment with companies involved in the project.
Cllr Wilson said: "This is a fantastic new space for the whole Kirkliston community. It is so important that we work in partnership with developers to invest in our communities and our people and this project is a great example of the benefits of this approach."
Cllr Paul Godzik, Education Convener, added: "With the increased housing in the Kirkliston area these extensions are vital to cope with the extra demand for places at the primary school."
