The sewer infrastructure in Rhu has been successfully upgraded as part of Scottish Water's wider £5 million investment programme in Argyll and Bute.
The work involved the construction of two underground septic tanks and 425 metres of new pipework.
Scottish Water's alliance partners amey Black and Veatch (aBV) carried out the work.
Ruaridh MacGregor, Scottish Water's corporate affairs manager, said: "This upgrade of a critical section of the sewer network in Rhu will ultimately help to improve and protect the coastal waters around the Holy Loch and parts of the Firth of Clyde. It's fantastic to see this section of the wider investment programme in Argyll and Bute completed.
"The local community have been so patient with us and, on behalf of Scottish Water and its alliance partner aBV, I'd like to thank them, business owners and road users in the area for their patience and co-operation while the work has been ongoing."
Graeme Hamilton, Project Manager at aBV, added: "Having faced the challenge of uncharted services which caused us some unanticipated and unavoidable delay, we're delighted to have now completed this work in Rhu. The team has worked incredibly hard digging out some sections by hand.
"There's no doubt that local residents and road users will be pleased that the traffic restrictions have now been lifted. We also hope that the community of Rhu will be happy to hear that we're also now going to carry out some reinstatement work and re-seed the grassy area by the Rhu Marina entrance and the verge along Gareloch Road."
