Construction Scotland Innovation Centre (CSIC) has announced that it will launch a funding call for support for Modern Methods of Construction at the SFHA Development Forum on 22nd November.
One of the main aims of the partnership is to provide expertise and support to enable housing associations to engage with, and use, off site construction and modern methods of construction (MMC). The long term goals are to mainstream off site construction in order increase the quality and numbers of new affordable housing delivered by housing associations and address the shortage of skilled construction workers in Scotland.
SFHA's Innovation and Futures Thinking programme is bringing our members and other stakeholders together to collaboratively develop new ideas and solutions for the future. Members and partners are working on a range of projects. CSIC are delighted to be leading the "Modern Methods of Construction" project within the programme.
CSIC are excited that the outcome of the project will be to launch a unique innovation opportunity. CSIC will provide up to £50,000 of academic funding support for the implementation and take up of Modern Methods of Construction.
The Funding Call provides an opportunity for housing associations to trial fresh ideas with brand new prototypes and processes for your future development programes
MMC covers a wide range of modern ways of working including:
• Offsite
• Digital
• Design for Manufacture Assembly
• Building Information Modelling, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality.
CSIC hope that this funding call will inspire housing providers to experiment with innovation and to look at how you can use new technology to improve services. CSIC are looking forward to helping as many of you as we can.
