FP McCann's precast concrete hollowcore and solid plank flooring solutions have been deployed in an ongoing housing development in Scotland.
The Northern-Ireland precast concrete supplier and manufacturer installed 3,000m² of its solutions in the 16-apartment building in Edinburgh.
The work was completed on behalf of main building contractor and structural steel frame installer, AMA Construction, by the company's Scotland-based fixing team.
An onsite tower crane was used to install the 200mm deep prestressed hollowcore and 100mm deep prestressed solid slab, with the solid slab being used to form the balconies to each apartment. A perimeter edge trim was fixed to the top of the structural steel beams, along with the progressive collapse tie details and concreting works to the top of the slab level.
The hollowcore floor has been designed to accommodate a 3.0KN/m² imposed load, with some slab soffits left as an exposed concrete finish in the underground car parking area. The flooring was installed over a five week period and has a fire rating up to two hours.
Over 50 tonnes of FP McCann's precast concrete stairs, landings and plinths were also incorporated in the build.
Site manager Bill Armstrong said: "The precast, prestressed concrete hollowcore planks and reinforced solid composite flooring specified as part of the design and build were all supplied to the highest standard on a just-in-time delivery schedule. The FP McCann contracting team undertook the work in a safe and efficient manner, completing the installation to programme."
The four-storey building in Kinnear Road, North Edinburgh, which includes a lower level car park, was designed by architects Richard Murphy.
