Water Infrastructure Works In Kilmarnock

Construction News Image
Scottish Water has advised residents in Kilmarnock that it will be carrying out work to improve the existing water infrastructure in the area.

On Tuesday 29 January, a rolling programme of work to upgrade approximately 1.9 miles of pipework begins on Glasgow Road, before moving to Assloss Road, Burns Avenue and Landsbrough Drive, and will finish in Dean Street.

The work is being undertaken by Scottish Water's alliance partners Caledonia Water Alliance and is expected to take around ten weeks for completion.

Traffic management has been arranged in liaison with the local roads department.

From Tuesday 29 January, the westbound lane of Glasgow Road will be closed from its junction with Craighall Road to its junction with Woodlands Grove for around five weeks.

From Sunday 10 February, there will be no access to Woodlands Grove from Glasgow Road (the junction nearest Woodlands Place) to enable work to take place. The junction will be closed for approximately one week.

Drivers are asked to follow local diversions. Local access will be maintained where possible and pedestrian access will not be affected.

Ruaridh MacGregor, Scottish Water's corporate affairs regional manager, said: "It's important that our customers continue to enjoy clear, fresh drinking water. This essential work to improve the resilience of existing infrastructure in the area will help us achieve that.

"Some customers may experience a change in water pressure and/or discoloured water during the works. If this happens, simply turn on the cold water tap in your kitchen and let the water flow slowly until it runs clear."

He added: "Customers are thanked in advance for their patience and understanding."
