Dundee has been named Scotland's Local Authority Earth Hour 2018 Champion in recognition of its commitment to the environment.
WWF Scotland awarded Dundee City Council the honour for the work it did to raise awareness of Earth Hour, the annual global event which inspires millions of people to take action for the environment, the planet and nature.
Representatives from WWF were on hand to present Dundee City Council with the prestigious award.
The city came together to mark Earth Hour with a poster competition, the signing of the Covenant of Mayors and buildings across Dundee were plunged into darkness to raise awareness.
Welcoming the award, Council Leader John Alexander said: "This is fantastic news and I'm delighted to receive this award.
"Various events took place across the city to encourage everyone to think about their carbon footprint and encourage us to make small changes to the way we live to lessen our environmental impact.
"I hope that more people will get involved in Earth Hour this year and recognise there is more that we can do to help protect our planet."
Dr Sam Gardner, deputy director at WWF Scotland added: "We're delighted to recognise the amazing work carried out by Dundee City Council in supporting Earth Hour. We were so impressed by the dedication of everyone involved and their commitment to the environment. Dundee City Council has shown great leadership and we look forward to seeing what it has in store for Earth Hour this year which falls on 30th March at 8.30pm."
This year Earth Hour is on Saturday 30th March. For more information go to www.wwfscotland.org.uk/earthhour
