Midlothian Council has launched a public consultation on the future development of Mayfield town centre.
When Mayfield town centre was originally built in the 1950's, there were shops, pubs, leisure facilities and landscaping that invited people in. But what do you think should be included in the newly designed town centre?
The council is inviting interested parties to come along to the public consultations taking place this month and let the 'In It Together' project organisers know what's important to you.
The project is being led by a group of community organisations whose work is based in or focussed on Mayfield & Easthouses. They are Mayfield and Easthouses Development Trust; the community council, the local Youth 2000 project; Midlothian and Easthouses Church; the community training and development social enterprise, McSense; Midlothian Voluntary Action and Midlothian Council.
Consultants
The leading architects' firm Camerons are lead consultants for the project. They are developing the town centre masterplan with the support of ARK Consultancy, who are leading the local consultation work.
Come along
The first consultation has been set for Friday 7 February between 12 and 5pm, with the second taking place on Tuesday 11 February between 5pm and 8pm. Both events will be held at Mayfield and Easthouses Church, 2 Bogwood Rd, Mayfield.
Following the public consultations, a masterplan will be prepared with the aim of launching the regeneration strategy in early May 2020.
