The Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA) Development Conference, taking place at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh on 17 March, will be officially opened by the Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning.
Kevin Stewart will open this year's SFHA Development Conference, which given the backdrop of the climate emergency, will focus on green infrastructure.
SFHA is working with Scottish Natural Heritage, Architecture and Design Scotland and the Scottish Government to support place-design that maximises the benefits of green infrastructure in social housing across Scotland.
Scottish Natural Heritage said: "Our Social Housing and Green Infrastructure project will provide financial support to three new projects that will provide lessons for the housing sector and lead to more opportunities for people to connect with nature close to where they live.
"Scotland's urban green spaces provide many benefits for people and nature – from opportunities to exercise, spaces to grow food, refuges for wildlife, and valuable services such as management flood water and mitigating the effects of air and noise pollution. But there are still many places in Scotland, often associated with areas of disadvantage, where green infrastructure is not fulfilling its potential in terms of the number of benefits it could provide."
But what does this mean in practice? Come along to SFHA's Development conference and hear about the three projects that received funding through the Social Housing and Green Infrastructure Fund in early 2019: Meadowbank, Queensland Court and North Maryhill.
The Development Conference takes place on 17 March and is directly followed by the Procurement Conference on 18 March at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh.
The delegate fee for either the Development or Procurement Conference starts at £229 for SFHA Members (£319 for non-members) which includes attendance, lunch and all refreshments.
When you book to attend both the Development Conference and Procurement Conference, the cost is just £395 - a saving of £63.00.
Book three and bring a colleague for free!*
