CCG is begin work on a £42.6 million project to transform a former meat market into 252 flats for mid-market rent following grant approval via Glasgow City Council's affordable housing supply programme.
Located at the corner of Bellgrove Street and Duke Street, the development will see CCG deliver the new-build flats and a commercial unit for Home Group.
The site forms part of the former Glasgow Meatmarket which has been derelict for many years.
Designed by JTP, the 252 flats are a mixture of one and two-bedroom units, split across 19 flat types and will be incorporated across four blocks which range between four and six storeys high, with frontage on to Duke Street and Bellgrove Street.
CCG is set to commence construction in the early stages of the New Year with completion expected in 2023.
Councillor Kenny McLean, city convener for neighbourhoods, housing and public realm at Glasgow City Council, said: "The building of so many affordable homes in what is a fantastic location will be a key stage of the wider transformation of the historic Meatmarket site. We can look forward to this development playing its part as a catalyst for the regeneration of this part of the city, with these flats becoming home to a wide range of people and families."
The Meatmarket is the second project to have been undertaken by CCG and Home Group after having recently completed the conversion of the former Homlea Primary School in Cathcart, Glasgow, which delivered 49 mixed-tenure homes in partnership with Cathcart & District Housing Association.
