Stirling Council has unveiled ambitious plans to deliver more than 1400 affordable homes across the region.
The Strategic Housing Investment Plan (SHIP) 2021/22 to 2025/26 sets out the Council's approach to invest in and deliver affordable housing throughout Stirling over the next five years.
The Plan has the potential to deliver more than 1,400 homes, the majority of which would be provided by Stirling Council, Forth Housing Association and Rural Stirling Housing Association.
Developments already underway
Many developments are already under construction, such as new council housing being built in Dunblane, Bannockburn and Raploch, and Rural Stirling Housing Association's development in Callander.
Delivery of the SHIP will support the Council's aims to increase economic activity in the area, create jobs and training opportunities in the construction sector, reduce fuel poverty and help support regeneration activity in Raploch and Cornton.
New affordable housing
Housing Portfolio holder, Councillor Evelyn Tweed said: "Stirling Council is committed to providing new affordable housing and the Scottish Government's recent announcement of £500 million of funding for new affordable housing in 2021 will support the Council and partner organisations to build more affordable housing in towns and villages across Stirling."
Depute Portfolio holder for Housing, Councillor Danny Gibson, said: "This Plan will see the provision of more affordable and energy efficient homes, which will see lower fuel bills for many more households and this reduces the risk of people living in fuel poverty."
Housing for wheelchair users
Depute Portfolio holder for Housing, Councillor Alasdair MacPherson said: "Our ambitious Strategic Housing Investment Plan also sets a target for the development of housing suitable for wheelchair users to ensure that we provide more housing for those with a disability across the region."
