CCG Completes Major Housebuilding Programme In Clydebank

CCG has completed an ambitious affordable housebuilding programme at the former St Andrews High School in Clydebank on behalf of West Dunbartonshire Council.

Welcoming the development's 200th new tenant since its completion, the Council's Housing and Communities Convener Councillor Diane Docherty said: "This is an important milestone as we welcome our 200th tenant. I am pleased to have had the chance to meet with Karen and hear how this home will improve things for herself and her daughter.

"The homes we are building all over West Dunbartonshire are not only stylish but they are practical, affordable, energy-efficient and a number of them with full accessibility.

"Our tenants are at the heart of everything we do, and it is fantastic to see them enjoying their new surroundings."

Vice Convener Councillor Ian Dickson, added: "Over the last few years we have been working towards our ambitious More Homes Better Homes commitment to increase our housing stock and have introduced a great number of new homes. I am extremely proud of the progress that has been made so far and of our plans to continue that housing growth throughout West Dunbartonshire.

"I am delighted to have the opportunity to welcome Karen and Zoe, and all our other new tenants, to their new homes. I wish them many years of happiness in the future."

The St Andrew's site has been transformed into a development of 126 homes in a mix of one-bedroom flats to five-bedroom houses and is one of four projects to have been delivered across the local authority region since 2018 including the former Haldane Primary School (58 homes) in Dumbarton, the former Aitkenbar Primary School (55 homes) in Bellsmyre and Creveul Court (22 homes) in Alexandria.

CCG Managing Director, David Wylie, said: "It was a pleasure to meet Karen and her young daughter, Zoe; it is always heart-warming to hear of a person's joy at receiving a new home that is going to bring great benefit to her family and I am delighted that they will be settling in this summer.

"Karen's story is one of many positive outcomes that have been generated as a result of our partnership with West Dunbartonshire Council. We use a collaborative design-for-build process and modern procurement frameworks to ensure that we bring tailored homes to site far more efficiently than traditional means whilst our advanced construction methods deliver enhanced quality, a faster speed of build and vastly improved energy performance.

"At this important milestone, I thank the Council for choosing CCG as their housebuilding partner and look forward to delivering many more homes for the communities of West Dunbartonshire for many years to come."

A lasting legacy of social value has also been generated as a result of St Andrew's development including the creation of four new jobs, two work placements and a commitment to contribute up to £11,000 to locally-based projects.
