Convener of the Communities & Housing Sub-Committee, Cllr Judy Hamilton welcomed the start of the project, commenting: "It's great that work has begun on site. I welcome the investment in partnership with Sustrans.

"As a council, we're committed to investing in our communities and to our priority of promoting health and wellbeing. I look forward to the work being completed so that the path can be enjoyed by everyone."

Sustrans funding originates with the Transport Scotland-supported Places for Everyone programme.

Simon Wasser, Infrastructure Manager for Sustrans Scotland added: "We are glad to have been able to fund the work to upgrade Lade Breas. We hope that these improvements will make it easier for the local community to enjoy the local greenspace and travel to and from the town centre."
