JetCut has announced that it has increased its capacity by installing a third Water Jet machine, which complements JetCut's two 2 Trumpf Lasers and one Voortman Plasma/Flame profiling machine.
Established in 2005 as a Water Jet subcontracting business, based in Glasgow with 1 Water Jet. The last 17 years has seen JetCut evolve from a one machine/two man operation in a small shed in Hillington to 14 person business based in a factory in Glengarnock, Ayrshire. Originally we specialised in cutting ceramic & porcelain tiles for the housing/construction sector, but in 2008 when Mike Marshall took over the business, the focus shifted towards an engineering and manufacturing client base with metals (predominately Mild Steel, Stainless Steel and Aluminium) making up the majority of the material being cut.
From 2016 onwards the market evolved significantly with the dramatic progress of Laser technology's ability to cut thicker Steel at quicker and therefore more economic speeds. To handle this changing market place JetCut re-located to a larger premises (20,000 sq./ft) with significantly increased electrical supply in Glengarnock, Ayrshire in 2019 and installed their first Trumpf laser. This was rapidly followed in 2020 with a second laser and in 2021 with a Plasma/Flame Voortman plate processing unit. Meanwhile far from being left behind the Water Jets found a substantial new market cutting increasing volumes of Plastic, Foam & Rubber while also cutting thicker metals which are beyond the capabilities of the Lasers but requiring a more accurate better quality (no heat) finish than what the Plasma or Flame can achieve.
